Pictures!

If you liked the pictures I had you vote on (black and white or color), then you'll love these as well. Beware, they're all of Jaycee, so if you're sick of her, I'd suggest you ignore this post. There are too many to choose just a few for a post, so I put them into an album. Just click on the link.

Thanks, Marissa, for taking the time to do all this for us. It was so much fun.

Thank Heaven for family!

My parents decided to come visit during the dreaded test week/widow week. We've been through one test week already, and this was the end of the second block (Oct. 14-18). They figured we could spend time together while Lance had to study every waking moment, and when he was done we could party. It was very good reasoning, and I was so grateful they came. We had a great time. We went to the Jelly Belly factory, Sprecher's Brewery (we forgot to find out when tours were, so we were too early), and Green Bay to visit my grandma and aunt. You can't go to Green Bay without going to Lambeau stadium, so we went there as well. We tried to sneak in and go see the field with the tour groups, but they're pretty efficient about checking wristbands. We thought it was free anyway, but come to find out, tours are $11/person. No thanks! We also went to the Betty Brinn children's museum and to our ward trunk-or-treat. Jaycee had so much fun seeing here Grandma and Grandpa Dixon again. I told Jaycee it was bedtime the first night they were here, and she pointed her finger at me and said, "Grandma and Grandpa can't leave." We miss them, but are very grateful for the time we got to share.

Votes, please!

My friend Marissa took these amazing pictures of Jaycee, and I think the color and the B&W are hard to choose between. Does anyone have an opinion? This is just a preview of the many pictures she took, and I know they will all be wonderful. Let me know what you think.

Struggles in the bedroom...it's not what you think!

What a tender moment. The other day I was quickly checking my e-mail, and I kept hollering out to Jaycee and asking what she was doing. I just knew that she had gotten into something because she stays completely silent when she's doing dirty deeds. Come to find out, she had grabbed a pillow and fallen asleep on the couch. It was bittersweet. First of all, it was 5:30 PM. That's not the best naptime. Second, I was trying to get her not to take a nap. Anyway, that just set the tone for her getting to bed somewhere around 11:00 that night...again!

This is just a cute picture that I never posted from the White Coat Ceremony. What a good daddy he is! And what a bad thumb-sucker she is!

As I alluded to above, Jaycee isn't getting to bed very early lately, so I've been trying to see if I could just eliminate her naps. Then (logically speaking) she would just want to go to bed earlier, and I could relax for a brief spell, but not so. She now finds sneaky ways to fall asleep for her naps. The couch was one example. Riding in cars is another example. I only will let her sleep for 30 minutes or less, but that is a power nap for her. She's as happy as can be until 10:30. I do put her in bed around 9:00 or 9:30. Then I will hear her door creak open, and she comes beaming into our room, just as cute as can be. Last night I was a little bugged after her third time of opening the door, and firmly asked her if she wanted a spankin'. "Yeah! I want a spankin'. Please, mommy. I want a spankin'. Obviously, she doesn't get spanked very often.

Tagged!

I'm supposed to write about six quirks and tag six other people, but I'm not going to tag anyone. If anyone who reads this wants to write about their quirks, feel welcome to. I asked Lance my quirks and he found plenty for me to write about, so here goes.

1-The wierdest thing I do is memorize license plate numbers. Everyone wonders why I do that, and then they say what a waste of time it is. I know it will come in handy one day. For instance, my parents have four cars right now. The van is 2B 3321, the Hyundai is 2B 321, the Geo is 2B 158, and the truck is 2B 2321. Rod and Peggy's cars: the Dodge Truck is 2B 13711, the van is 2B 14266, the Neon is 2B 11598, and they have a new car which I have not seen yet. I could go on and on, but why bore everyone?

2-When I make a casserole, every layer has to be evenly distributed. I don't like clumps of cheese, or meat. That even transfers to when I eat it. If I'm eating lasagna, I have to have cheese, noodles, meat and olives all in every bite. I'm always the last one eating because of this method, but I get a perfect bite every time.

3-I can't stand it when Jaycee pulls the toilet paper off the roll. It drives me crazy knowing that when I put it back on, no matter how hard I try, it won't be straight.

4-I hate washing dishes because of the way it makes my hands feel being in hot soapy water. I use rubber gloves whenever I have to immerse my hands for any amount of time. After I use the gloves, though, I have soggy hands anyway because they sweat so bad. It's co-morbid.

5-I love peeling skin and popping zits.

6-When I fold laundry, it has to be perfect. The seams have to line up, especially with pants, and they can't have wrinkles. The funny thing is that I fold my laundry so nice, but hate putting it away, so sometimes it sits in the basket for a couple of days.

Hope I didn't bore you, but I want to see other peoples' quirks so I don't feel so wierd.

Dizzy!

On Saturday I went to some more rummage sales and found some good toys for Jaycee. This sit'n spin is one of them. She loves it. Some of you may worry after watching this video that we are abusing her, but rest assured, she comes back for more. The motion of going around backwards makes her want to lean back, which is why she's leaning back so far instead of leaning sideways. Wait for the end when Lance almost forgets to catch her! The noise in the background is the Brewers game, and unfortunately we have to wait until next year for more games to go to.

More photos

Just messing around with different things on Photoshop. Jaycee's my guinea pig. Mom (Dixon) notice she's wearing the cute outfits you sent us. Thanks a ton!

Dream Seats

On Wednesday night, Sep. 25th, we got a phone call from our neighbor. We had just met Steve a couple of days ago, but we knew his wife and two kids from when we moved in. He said that he had two tickets to the Brewers game for Thursday and wasn't able to go. He offered them to us, and Lance took them in a heartbeat. We were actually going to buy tickets for this game, but Lance decided he needed to study.
When we got the tickets, imagine our surprise when we found out they were in the Tundra Territory. That might not mean much to those of you who haven't been to Miller Park, but these are the seats that you look at from the nosebleeds and think, "Man, I'd love to relax in one of those recliners. Short of buying a Toyota truck, how do I get in there?"

Jaycee is modeling one of the free hats we were given upon entering the "Territory" and Lance is showing off the big screen TV right in front of us (we wouldn't want to miss the replays). I wonder if I will ever get her to stop sucking that thumb. She is very fond of it. I found myself watching the TV instead of the actual game and Lance kept giving me the look of disgust.
It's really an amazing park. That's the retractable roof.

This is the only time Lance actually sat down in his seat. It was an exciting game with an amazing finish (Ryan Braun hit a walk-off homerun to win the game in the 10th or 11th inning), and there was so much excitement in the stadium. We even had a local TV station come right behind us and do a broadcast about fan appreciation day in Miller Park. They interviewed the people we were sitting by, but Jaycee was snoozing in my arms, and we weren't interested in being on TV.

Needless to say, we had a great time, and are so grateful our neighbor thought of us. Now that the Brewers are in the post season, this town is on fire with celebrations, not that we've been to any, but it's fun to be in the midst of everything.
