Ever since we moved out here to Wisconsin, our landlord had talked to Lance about doing the tile in our kitchen and the kitchen upstairs as well. We are glad to say ours is finally finished. Sorry Meghan and Brad, yours isn't started yet, but it will get done faster once it is started. Lance did all the tiling over Thanksgiving break, and then left the clean-up and finishing touches to me. That didn't get done very fast because I didn't want to do it. Today we finally finished it and sealed all the grout lines. Lance did a great job, and our landlord is pleased.
While we are on the subject of our apartment, let's just say our break for two weeks was hard on our kitchen and bathroom. First, we got a phone call from Brad (our upstairs neighbor) saying that their toilet had been overflowing all night and the water had gone into our bathroom, and all the way to the basement. Not much we could do being 1,200 miles away, but bad news nonetheless. It seems like everything (including the walls) survived without extensive damage.
Second, we got a call from him on Jan. 2nd. He and Meghan (wife) had smelled something funky coming from our apartment and went in to check it out. Our fridge had quit for some reason and all the contents of our fridge/freezer were rotting. We were still two days away from coming home so he offered, being the overly generous guy that he is, to clean it all out. I can imagine the smells he had to deal with, since we are still getting a whiff of it whenever we open our fridge. We are forever indebted to him for cleaning that out. From here on out we will empty our fridge when we leave (even though it will never happen again).
All in all, we had a wonderful break. We loved being able to spend time with our families, and loved having a break from studying (I need breaks from Lance's studying as well). We ate way too much delicious food, and were spoiled way too much. Jaycee was especially spoiled and given anything and everything she wanted. Thanks Mom and Dad (both sides) for everything.

The kitchen looks great. Sorry about the bathroom and fridge!! That stinks! It's kinda funny how you said that you'll always empty it out now, and that it will never happen again. Isn't that just the way it goes! How are you feeling? I bet cleaning out the fridge wouldn't be the best idea for a pregnant woman!
wow. im so jealous of all that counter space! it looks great!
Looks great. That's awful about the fridge. Luckily someonr was able to clean it out before you got back. Can you imagine the smell then. Gald there was no damage in the bathroom.
yeah the kitchen looks awesome!! party at the jacobson's!! haha. maybe you can put a box of baking soda in the fridge...supposedly that stuff absorbs odors.
your kitchen looks great! did you guys do all the work? i'm impressed.
i'm so sorry about your fridge. that couldn't have been fun.
Holy Cow, I missed some important details. I noticed your baby counter. YEAH! Congratulations. I hope you're feeling well. I love you family pictures, such a beautiful family.
Your kitchen looks awesome, nice work! I can't believe all the crazy things that happened at your place over the holidays! Dan's grandparents live in St. George for the winter months, and their fridge went out during the summer and they didn't discover it for a couple months!!! When we visited them I could still smell it in the freezer (a month after they cleaned it)! Words cannot describe that stench! How nice that Brad caught it in time and even cleaned it out for you!
I'm glad you survived traveling over the holidays and that you made your flight! Looks like you had a really fun time. Lets get together soon, Eliza was asking about Jaycee the entire Christmas break!
